SearchPress
wordpress
Quick introduction
Searchpress is a FREE, light-weight, simple theme by makeuproud, which transforms a simple wordpress installation into a search engine. The uses are infinite. It was firstly built for a scholarships database website, and can be used for every “listing” website or a database of a huge amount of data.
Theme’s basic concept
It was spring of 2008 when my company launched a search engine website about scholarships. The purpose of this site was to fill the gap that exists in greek internet about them. The idea behind was quite simple. The user enters, and immediately start searching using the search box. Apart from the search box, in searchpress, the user has the options to search through the tag cloud or the dropdown categories.
Installation and Theme Options
The only thing to do is to upload the folder “searchpress” in your themes folder and activate it through the “appearance > themes” tab
After activating the theme, you have to go to the “Theme Options” Tab at the very end of the admin navigation, and set up some of the options there.
- In “General Options” you have to add the url of a logo image. You can go in the “Media” tab of the administration interface and upload it there. Then copy the url of the image you just uploaded and paste in the “Logo URL” input field in Theme Options.
Below, you will find an empty input field where you can add some custom footer text. - Ad Slots
The next textareas that appear, are the the places to paste your adsense, or any ad code you like. Create ad units with the given dimensions and paste them there. - Analytics Code
At the end there is a textarea for your analytics tracking code.
Plugin you might want to install
After you finished, we have to upload the needed plugins for this installation.
- Search Everything
